You Might’ve Missed Nate Bargatze’s Dig at Sydney Sweeney Jeans Scandal at Emmys 2025
Sydney Sweeney‘s jeans controversy just got the Emmys treatment.
While hosting the 2025 Emmy Awards, Nate Bargatze folded in a joke about American Eagle’s ad starring the Euphoria star—a campaign that sparked backlash, with critics alleging that it promoted eugenics.
“I have a blue jean tux on for some reason,” the comedian said onstage at the Sept. 14 show. “Do we have like, a joke, there’s a cummerbund and I forgot what it- I don’t know. Alright. Please welcome two-time Emmy nominee Sydney Sweeney.”
Wearing a custom, strapless, red satin Oscar de la Renta gown, the Anyone But You actress then walked out onstage without responding to Bargatze’s denim dig.
Instead, Sweeney—who has yet to directly respond to the scandal—kept the focus on the ceremony, presenting the Emmys for Best Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie to winner Owen Cooper from Adolescence.
