WCSO: 1 dead after allegedly shot by juvenile family member

AUSTIN (KXAN) — One person died after a juvenile family member allegedly shot them Sunday night in Williamson County, according to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office. The juvenile was taken into custody.

WCSO said in a news release Monday that it responded to a 911 call Sunday around 10 p.m. for a report of a shooting in the 100 block of Chandler Pointe Loop. That’s outside the city limits of Round Rock.

The caller said someone “had been shot by another family member inside the home.” When deputies arrived at the residence, the person was pronounced dead, according to WCSO. Although the victim was identified, the sheriff’s office said it would publicly identify them due to notifying next of kin.

“The family member believed to be responsible for the shooting is a juvenile,” WCSO said. “In accordance with Texas state law, the identity of the juvenile in a case such as this will not be released to the public pending further judicial review.”

If anyone has any information on this case, they are urged to contact the WCSO CID Tip Line at 512-943-1311.

No other details were available Monday.
