‘The Pitt’ Season 2 Trailer Reveals The Calm Before The Chaos
When viewers reunite with the cast of The Pitt in Season 2, it’s been 10 months since the events in the Season 1 finale, and it’s Fourth of July weekend. Get your first look at the hit medical drama’s sophomore season, which premieres on January 8, via the official trailer above.
From creator R. Scott Gemmill and producer John Wells, The Pitt chronicles the urgent challenges U.S. frontline healthcare professionals face through the lens of the fictional Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center’s emergency department. Offering a real-time format, the series traces, hour by hour, the medical cases and personal crises physicians and nurses must navigate as they reckon with an overabundance of patients and a lack of resources.
In the first few seconds of the video, there are emergencies all around the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center’s ED. Led by Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch (Noah Wyle), the staff is gearing up for one of the busiest weekends, what with fireworks, smoking hot BBQs, and drunk friends and relatives, what could go wrong?
Not even 20 seconds in, Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi (Sepideh Moafi) is introduced as Dr. Robby’s replacement, at least temporarily, while he goes off on a sabbatical. It’s tough to believe the senior attending physician will really take off, but maybe it’s a way to challenge the others. Even Dr. Abbot (Shawn Hatosy) doesn’t seem to believe Robby will be able to handle having time off, so whether he prioritizes his break or not is yet to be seen.
Regarding Dr. Al-Hashimi, she is a confident queen who has ideas on how to improve the ED, but implementing those plans might be easier than finding time to discuss them in the first place.
“What do you need to get some basic empathy back? Al-Hashimi asks Dr. Robby in the trailer. She’s coming in strong and challenging the boss. Yes, I’m officially shipping them.
Dr. Frank Langdon (Patrick Ball) is back, but not everyone is as happy as Dr. Mel King (Taylor Dearden) in the trailer. There’s still tension between Langdon and Robby following the events of last season, which saw Dr. Trinity Santos (Isa Briones) uncover and report that Langdon was stealing drugs from the hospital. Langdon and Robby were quite close before the former was exposed, so hopefully the pair can find some common ground once again.
Season 2 also stars Katherine LaNasa as Dana Evans, Supriya Ganesh as Dr. Mohan, Fiona Dourif as Dr. McKay, Gerran Howell as Whitaker, and Shabana Azeez as Javadi. New recurring talent includes Charles Baker, Irene Choi, Laëtitia Hollard, Lucas Iverson, Lawrence Robinson, Brittany Allen, Bonita Friedericy, Taylor Handley, Jeff Kober, Meta Golding, Luke Tennie, Christopher Thornton, and Travis Van Winkle.
