Second bat tests positive for rabies in Cedar Park, police say

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A bat that was found dead in Cedar Park on Sept. 16 has tested positive for rabies. That is the second bat who tested positive this week, according to the Cedar Park Police Department.

The dead bat was found in the 500 block of Brushy Creek Road, and it is “unknown how long the bat was in the area or if it had direct contact with people or animals,” CPPD said on social media.

“Rabies is a fatal disease, but it is preventable with quick medical treatment,” police said.

If anyone, their children or pets had possible exposure with the bat, they are urged to call CPPD at 512-260-4600.
