Noah Wyle Thanks Doctors Coming Off Shift For First Emmy Win: “Thank You For Being In That Job, This Is For You”
After seven nominations, tonight marks Noah Wyle‘s first Emmy win in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series category for his work on The Pitt. “What a dream this has been,” he says as he accepts the award.
Five of his past nominations were for his work on ER, which John Wells also executive produced. “Thank you to everybody at HBO Max and Warner Bros. Television for allowing me the conditions to exist for lightning to strike in my life twice,” says Wyle. “John Wells thank you for being that lightning.”
Among the thanks, Wyle also makes it clear that half of his award goes to his wife Sara Wells, and “not just because its California law, but because she earned it.”
After all of his thanks, Wyle makes sure to end his speech with a nod to the hospital workers. “Mostly, to anyone who is going on shift tonight or coming off shift tonight, thank you for being in that job,” he says. “This is for you.”
Also nominated for lead actor in a drama series this year was Pedro Pascal for The Last of Us, Adam Scott for Severance, Gary Oldman for Slow Horses and Sterling K. Brown for Paradise.
