Jayden Daniels’ mom calls out fans after son’s injury in Commanders loss
The Washington Commanders suffered a second-straight loss on Sunday, as division rivals, the Dallas Cowboys, dealt them a crushing 44-22 defeat. Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels had a disappointing exit, clutching at his right hamstring as he went to the sideline and medical tent.
According to Fox Sports NFL sideline reporter Erin Andrews, “the best indication” they received about Daniels’ injury situation was when he gave the thumbs up signal out of the tent toward his mother. After that, he headed back to the locker room for further evaluation of his hamstring issue.
Backup Marcus Mariota replaced him but couldn’t overcome the Cowboys’ onslaught in Dallas. Mariota threw just four completions out of his 10 passes for 63 yards. He was also sacked twice and intercepted.
When Daniels exited the game, he’d compiled 156 yards and a touchdown pass, along with a touchdown he ran in himself. After the game, Daniels’ mother, Regina Jackson, sent a strong message to call out fans over her son’s recent injury situation.

“I wish you would stop manifiesting RGIII on my son. Words are powerful and that’s all that’s talked about,” she wrote on her official X account, including two emojis for praying hands.
Former first-round pick Robert Griffin III previously played quarterback for the Washington Redskins. However, his devastating knee injury in the playoffs caused the team to remove him as their starter in 2015. He attempted to join other teams and contribute, including the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens, but never could regain his previous level of skill from before his injury.
As one might expect, commenters expressed various reactions to Jayden Daniels’ mother’s post on X, with some firing back at her suggestion and others showing support for Jackson and her son.
“Tell them Mama 5. He ain’t RG3. He’s JD5. That kid. Baby goat. Ferrari 5. Plain and Simple,” one commenter wrote.
Another X commenter replied, “Those are trolls, ignore them. Fans of this team have his back.”
“You’re right. RGIII didn’t have his mom fighting Twitter battles for him,” an X commenter told Jackson.
“It’s sad, but you might not want to be on social media so much. Or def not read what people are saying above #5,” another individual commented.
In Week 2, Daniels suffered a left knee sprain against the Green Bay Packers and missed two games. He then returned for Weeks 5 and 6 against the Los Angeles Chargers and Chicago Bears. He was healthy as he took the field for the game against the Cowboys.
As of this report, the severity of Daniels’ newest injury is unknown. The team fell to 3-4 with the loss, which is definitely disappointing as they look to improve upon last year’s success.
However, having Daniels healthy and playing for the Commanders is essential. After the game, head coach Dan Quinn told reporters that “injuries are not the reason we lost” and said turnovers, penalties, and missed drops all led to this loss.
According to Quinn, Daniels wanted to return to the game and keep playing, but they couldn’t let him. He noted that Daniels would get an MRI for his injury on Monday, and the team would have a better update then regarding his situation.
