Internet can’t cope with dad’s 1 a.m. request call to son behind mom’s back

A late-night fast-food craving in Jacksonville, Florida, from a hungry dad has left internet users in hysterics.

In a clip on TikTok posted by @mikemmoments, the dad is trying to be as quiet as he can as he speaks to his son—sat in a Tacoma truck—on the phone.

The voice that comes through is barely audible, but the message is clear: “Get me an apple pie.”

The quiet plea immediately sends the passengers into fits of laughter. Moments later, the dad repeats his order in a hushed tone “I gotta go,” he says. “Get me an apple pie.”

It turns out that the dad wanted an apple pie from Whataburger in the early hours of the morning.

The text overlay explains everything: “1 a.m. dad wants an apple pie from Whataburger. He’s trying not to wake mom.”

The after-midnight mission has gone viral, amassing over 10 million views and a further 2.6 million likes.

Thousands of users couldn’t cope with the hilarity of it all, especially the dad enlisting his son as an accomplice in satisfying his sweet tooth without drawing attention.

“The fact that the call is 5 minutes long,” one laughed.

“The LOUDEST whisper I have ever heard,” another wrote.

Some users agreed that a text might have been the quieter route to getting his pie.

According to the son, the request couldn’t wait as he risked the text being missed. “That’s the mystery of Mike’s mind,” the son wrote in reply to a comment. He loves to call his boys and not text [because] he’s old school sometimes.”

For Texans and Southern fast-food fans, Whataburger’s apple pies are no joke. The fried turnover-style dessert has something of a cult following, and late-night drive-thru runs are a tradition for many.

“Whataburger apple pies are bomb,” one user confirmed.

Many others compared the hushed dessert request to another viral moment where Biggy Norris of the Norris Nuts quietly asked for a caramel slice after surgery.

TikTok users were desperate to know whether the dad did in fact get his apple pie. “The man risked his life for that apple pie, did yall get it for him?” one user asked.

His son confirmed that he did a few days later. “He had to wait,” he wrote in a comment.
