Exclusive | Revealed: Francisco Lindor, Jeff McNeil battled again, and Mets shortstop’s chilly rapport with Juan Soto helped doom ‘25 season

Francisco Lindor and Jeff McNeil had a heated confrontation last season, just the latest friction between the teammates in what has been a turbulent Mets relationship.

After a defensive lapse on June 20 in Philadelphia, an angry Lindor at some point began verbally attacking McNeil, according to a source, leading to what was described as a tense standoff between the two. The Mets lost their seventh straight that night — an initial stretch of futility that indicated maybe something was amiss with a team that had surged a season-high 21 games above .500 just over a week earlier.

“A play didn’t get made and that pissed [Lindor] off,” a source who was nearby the confrontation said.

There is no indication this latest known incident between the two turned physical. That is unlike in 2021, when an argument between the two sparked by a defensive letdown spilled over into the runway between the dugout and clubhouse. The Post later reported that Lindor grabbed McNeil by the throat and pinned him against a wall.
