‘Adolescence’s Owen Cooper Breaks Another Awards Record At Golden Globes
In September, Owen Cooper, the star of Netflix smash hit Adolescence became the youngest male to ever win an acting award at the Emmys.
The 16-year old followed that up this evening with another awards record after he became the youngest winner in the best supporting TV actor categories, beating the record set by Glee’s Chris Colfer, who was 20 when he won in 2010.
Cooper, who won Best Performance By a Male Actor in a Supporting Role On Television, also became the second youngest Golden-Globe-winning male actor of all time. The youngest is Ricky Schroder, who was nine years old when he won New Star Of The Year in a Motion Picture category for The Champ in 1990.

Cooper beat The Morning Show’s Billy Crudup, The White Lotus’ Walton Goggins and Jason Isaacs, Severance’s Tramell Tillman and his Adolescence co-star Ashley Walters.
“Standing here at the Golden Globe does not feel real, whatsoever. What an incredible journey me and my family have been put through,” he said. “We are forever grateful… I thought, I might be okay, I might be awful, I never know. So, I took a risk, and I went to drama classes. I was the only boy there. It was embarrassing, but I got through it.
“I’m still very much an apprentice. I’m still learning every day, I’m still learning from the people that are sat in front of me, that inspired me. It’s mad what’s going on,” he added.
The young star, who is starring in Warner Bros’ forthcoming adaptation of Wuthering Heights alongside Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie, ended on a note of positivity and a shout out to his favorite soccer team, Premier League champions, Liverpool F.C.
“Bring on 2026. You’ll never walk alone,” he added.
Cooper played 13-year-old Jamie Miller, who is arrested on suspicion of murder, in Adolescence. Last year, the series, which stars Stephen Graham, as Miller’s father, became Netflix’s second most-watched English-language series.
