Mark Consuelos recalls daylight savings ending being a “big party night” while living in Tampa: “You get an extra hour at the club”

Got the club going up on a Saturday! Well, this Saturday in particular.

On the subject of the New York City Marathon coming up on Sunday morning (Nov. 2), Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos remembered that daylight savings time also ends this weekend.

“Are we falling back? Is that right?” Ripa asked on Live with Kelly and Mark on Wednesday.

While noting that this will take place early Sunday morning, Consuelos wondered “how many runners [will] not show up on time” amid the time change. However, Ripa claimed that “they’ll wake up earlier anyway.”

“You know how we get that extra hour, but we never use it because our bodies are so conditioned to wake up at the insufferable hour that we don’t really feel the benefit of that extra hour until we’re starving at 4 p.m. and can’t figure out why,” she explained.

A smile emerged on Consuelos’ face as he remembered this night ahead of gaining an hour as being “a big party night.”

“I remember in Tampa, you get an extra hour at the club,” he added.

Ripa replied, “Take us back to the day.”

After being reminded that we gain an hour at 2 a.m. on Sunday, Consuelos reiterated that “you get an extra hour at the club.”

“Like, we gotta go home! No, we don’t,” he continued.

Ripa asked, “Do clubs close in Tampa?”

Consuelos said that the clubs in Tampa close “late,” like in New York.

Ripa said, “New York is like, I don’t think there is a last call.”

While Consuelos said “there is” a last call, Ripa teased that you have to leave while they “sweep up,” and they “will reopen the door in 45 minutes.”

“So you go to the diner,” she added.

Consuelos agreed that Tampa’s clubs were “kind of like that,” saying that “Saturday night’s going to be a big night” in New York.

“We won’t be there. We’ll be asleep by nine o’clock,” he told Ripa, who confirmed as much.

“Exactly,” she responded.
