KXAN takes part in this year's Austin Empty Bowl Project

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Local artists have spent the past year crafting bowls for this year’s Austin Empty Bowl Project, an annual event that aims to combat hunger in our community.

Chief Meteorologist Nick Bannin and Meteorologist Kristen Currie had the opportunity to make their own bowls for the event’s upcoming online auction, with help from Austin Pottery.

The weekend before Thanksgiving, hundreds of donated bowls will be filled with soup and bread, made available for purchase at an event at the Central Texas Food Bank.

All proceeds from the in-person event and online auction will benefit the Central Texas Food Bank and Meals on Wheels of Central Texas.
